Next week new VaporMax Moc 2 X Acronym will officially drop. The black / volt colorway will release on month after the previous one (light bone / volt) but the success of the latter is partly due to the legacy left by the previous collaborations between Nike and the German brand.

Despite the innovative and modern nature of Acronym and Errolson Hugh, the brand’s success is naturally linked to only two Nike models, Air Force and Air Presto.

In 2015, Nike contacted Errolson Hugh for the first time to propose a collaboration. The artist and CEO of the Bavarian house redesigned the commissioned AF1s using tape, scissors and glue to create an innovative shoe: the zip on the upper (which according to Hugh "helps the foot to slide into the shoe ") has become a symbol for Acronym and lovers of techwear. Air Force 1 X Acronym were initially presented in three different colors.

In 2016, during the same period, Nike announced a new collaboration that immediately moved fanatics up. Air Presto X Acronym were in fact released on September 15th in three colorways as well: olive, bamboo and volt. The release was able to satisfy both lovers of streetwear and techwear thanks to the partial revision of the Presto design. A small upper was added to support the ankle and a waterproof zip to make the fit easier without excessively altering the silhouette.

Because of the high number of requests for Presto, Nike set again a collabpration with Acronym six months later to create a new silhouette. The change of design occurred after the several releases of SF Air Force of following months. Nike requested a shoe (a "high" boot) that could work for the urban jungle. Going beyond its limits, Acronym designed the Air Force 1 Downtown X Acronym,  which released in three colors as well (pretty much the same used for the 2015 low) designed primarily for techwear fanatics.

In 2017 another small parenthesis opens for Acronym. Hugh was nominated along with 4 other artists in order to create a new Air Force in honor of the 35 years of the model. Hugh used, the same design of 2015 but in total white color

Despite the short life, Nike X Acronym has all the credentials to prove a lasting and successful collaboration. On the other hand it has already proven to be able to combine the world of techwear and streetwear, not only from an artistic point view.
