In a recent interview at The Come Up, Jeff Staple, founder of Staple Pigeon, explained how his latest sneaker in collaboration with Nike was made. And the story is quite unique.

After the release of the Nike SB Dunk Low "Black Pigeon" in November 2017, the need for Jeff and his team to change offices brought to light samples originally conceived during the creation of the brand new model. Among these, the American skater showed a black and white colorway in an Instagram post. “I remember just I took that picture and I said “Rejected Sample?” with a panda and pigeon emoji. Within an hour that post ended up on all the blogs and kinda went viral really fast. And I got the call from Nike”. The sneaker incorporates the animals "mascots" of both China and New York, the jungles to which the artist feels belonged. “When pigeon flaps his wings, it causes all this other stuff to happen”, concludes Jeff Staple, comparing the event to a Butterfly effect: "If I hadn't had to free the office and hadn't taken that random picture, this would never have happened".

The Nike SB Dunk Low "Panda Pigeon" will be officially released on the SNEAKRS app on January 15, whereas it’s still unknown if a retailer release will occur.
