“I had struggled with reconciling my love for fashion, beautifully made and cut clothes, and sartorial experimentation with the love for street wear, anti-fashion youth movements and trash culture in general so, as we sat writing our first manifesto, we decided that Aries should encompass all these elements.”

That’s how Sofia Prantera, designer and co-founder of Aries, describes her own brand.

Aries was born in London in 2012 from the minds of Sofia Prantera, Fergus Purcell and Luca Benini. The main goal is to gather under one name both the artistic and popular aspects of fashion: In fact Aries collections (for women exclusively) present only essential clothes from streetwear: sweatshirts and t-shirts are the main points of the movement and the simple graphics add irony that allows us to be reflected in the brand. Oversized sweaters, crop pants and writings inspired by high fashion maisons perfectly describe the street identity of Aries, but, despite the common appearance, high quality of the materials and care for the garments must be pointed out.  The result is a mix of Made in Italy and Sofia's ideas, which still follow the Italian fashio model.

Main aspects of the brand are sustainability and durability of products. It is always good to keep an eye on waste and Aries, through reuse and reinterpretation of fabrics, manages to maintain a sustainable and artistic production chain. The use of high quality materials also allows to enhance the garments even once used, making them timeless.

Aries embodies all the features needed for a modern brand to be able to keep up with the times and be itself the protagonist of the scene. All while keeping the roots firmly planted in streetwear from the 80's, but making the most of every single garment.

Some of the Aries products are already available at Holypop.
