Conventionality doesn’t seem to fit Tom Sachs’ genius. This has been known for long but with the new "sneaker" in collaboration with Nike we definitely have had the proof.

The Nike Mars Yard Overshoe comes straight from the need and will to improve an already excellent product such as the Mars Yard 2.0. Although comfortable and almost indestructible, this model let cold and humidity through the upper; hence the addition of Dyneema (an extremely resistant material usually used on boat ropes) to cover the original Mars Yard, which still is sewn on the inside. The project starts from the mutual collaboration between Nike and Tom Sachs, defined by the artist as "a combination of things that only Nike can produce and only Tom Sachs can produce. A fifty-fifty.”.

The Nike Mars Yard Overshoe (or, as Sachs himself preferred, "March" Yard, in honor of the wettest month of the year) will not be released before the next few months, but a first release will occur on October 10th in collaboration with Dover Street Market in London.
